Does your company need a Senior IT Director/Officer who can aid you in your IT needs as you begin to grow your firm.
Someone who has experience managing software development, networking infrastructure, telephony, and other IT needs. Someone who not only understands the concepts but can communicate them easily to staff and management? And unlike other senior IT staff you may have had, has a firm understanding of the underlying technologies necessary to allow your firm to grow and the economy recovers?
I have an extensive knowledge of software development, and have managed networking personnel, telephony equipment, and many other areas of IT.
My fundamental business background, built on my Degree in Business Administration and strengthened by various IT related positions that have called on that training allow me to be able to manage IT departments with confidence.
Some of the many ways I can contribute to your organization are:
- Aiding in the implementation of a standard, documented approach for development throughout the organization. This includes programming standards, Object Oriented Programming (OOP) class libraries (to maximize the work of each
developer and allow full reuse of that work), implementation of application frameworks (which will greatly reduce development time), and training practices that insure that all staff are trained and competent to help solve the various
software issues as necessary. Many corporations continue to have development environments that result in duplication, wasted code, limited documentation of processes and code, and many other such issues that cause IT departments
to be less responsive than they should be.
- Implementing solutions based not on a “that’s the way it’s done” mentality (which for some companies have resulted excessively high IT costs) but on a basis of finding the best tool to fix the problem at the best price.
Implementing a $6 million solution for a firm where that same problem could be solved by a $6 thousand dollar solution just doesn’t make sense, but as a consultant (and employee) of some major firms, I have seen this happen again and again. Does your firm have this kind of money to waste?
- The users must be able to use their computers to get their work done, fast and accurately.
Make sure that user interface issues are high on the list of priorities so that new staff can come up to speed quickly, knowledgeable users are not impeded, and senior management can get the information in a format so they can make the correct decision.
- How often have you found that a fair amount of non IT related budget is being spent by departments hiring IT personnel because that is the only way that they can get the solutions they need? Or that your IT department has had to
take over a project that was developed by an outside agency (hired by the aforementioned department) and found that the code was written poorly, without documentation, and often in violation of many of the security practices put in
place to prevent the compromise of your intellectual property? I work with companies on ways to resolve this problem without leaving the departments unable to get their work done.
- I have served in a number of management capacities including Vice President Engineering, VP of Operations, as well as at all levels within the IT field.
There are many other ways in which I can work with you to help you with your core IT needs as well. Feel free to contact me on how we can work together to help your company grow.
